In design school I learned to reference the Fibonacci numbers when choosing the size of design elements. Proportions between these numbers tend toward the golden ratio, a shortcut to visual harmony. I found myself repeatedly writing them out by hand, garnering strange looks from my coworkers. So I designed my own cheat sheet and made it freely available at Cribonacci.com.

When researching Fibonacci, I learned that he introduced Hindu-Arabic numerals (the numbers 0–9 that we use today) to western Europe, and I became fascinated with the idea of numbers as abstract glyphs. The design is inspired by Arabic art (which often uses the golden ratio) and consists entirely of glyphs from the STIX general typeface, a free font created for the math, science, and engineering community.
